Goa.. Endless beer parties, smoke-ups, hookups, hangovers, getting drenched in sea, sand, salt to sea breeze, getting lost in your own thoughts to DND hangover glance at this friend talking to you with waves: An adventurous fun place with integration limits of legal to illegal shit!
April 10, I never thought that this is how I’ll ever go to Goa for the first time. I was suddenly told to leave for goa tonight due to some work. LOL! Don’t envy me guys, yes I was there for about 16 days for work. After 18 hours I somehow landed to Goa with no plans, no friends.. not even with beach clothes. And maybe this is how it was meant to be the best thing happening to me!
First two days, little awkward, more professional, less talkative, less fun loving, serious Buddha mode, a shy person within boundaries got bored in goa and then only I decided this will not work for rest days.. so adventures begins!!
The important thing I learnt in Goa was to express yourself. Talk to the people around and get to know more stuff. So I started making new friends and exploring Goa in different style. I want you also should experience the same thing I did.. so I have enlisted few places to add your Goan bucket list.
“Yha nahi gye toh kya hi Goa aaye tum”
Candolim beach:
For fun, I call it as Condom-lim- Candolim, not the popular but worth to explore. If you want to find clean beaches near to city center then live here only. North Goa to south Goa, everything is nearby. You will find less crowded shacks, clean beaches, private parties and a guy who collects sea cockroaches.
Sinquerium Beach
Sinquerim Beach:
On the way to Fort Aaguada from Candolim you will find it. Sunrise is insanely beautiful here. And scuba diving lovers you can’t miss this.
Baga Beach
Calangute, Baga beach:
One of the most crowded places, yeah at 1 AM you have to knock the natural’s shutter if you want the ice-cream. Ha-ha! Don’t say who will eat ice cream when you are in Goa. Dear fellow, you will get from Urat (local drink) to Kings, virgin mojito to screw driver anywhere. I don’t need to guide you for the same.
Anjuna Beach
Arambhol and Anjuna beach:
Great place! When you rent a bike there the street going that side will give you good vibe. Roads are good with coconut trees around. Here you can find few cafes and restaurants with amazing views worth to explore. You will find blue sea here with all those stuff. Believe me, all “Stuff”.
Vagator
Vagaror Beach
Kind of black sand beach! Famous for water sports as waves are good here. This beach has got most partying shacks which will definitely attract you for Goan nightlife
Morjim beach:
Beautiful beach and the way waves you will see here, they are totally different. Here the waves follow your rhythm. Do visit La Plage and their French cuisine and it somehow became my favorite. Beaches are so good for surfing if you want to try.
Chapora Fort:
“Dil Chahta hai….
Kabhi na beete yeh chamkile din…”
You got everything correctly with this line. Lovely sunset here! You are able to see Vagator beach on one side and Morjim to other side and the view will be easy to show you the difference between waves the way they touch the seashore at both these beaches.
Vagator
Fort Aaugoda:
Best View! Also, do visit light house and acknowledge yourself with the history and burn few calories with the walking tour.
When you come downside from the fort, on right hand side you will find a road which goes to other side of Goa. Any islands trips or scuba diving will be arranged from there.
Reis Magos
Reis Magos Fort:
Well-structured and worth to explore.
Saturday Night Market!
A must to be visited by everyone who has been there. You will find music night concerts with different new bands to trance. Choices are here, yes, too many choices with everything. This place colors, people, lights, music and crazy vibe.
Panjim:
The sunset point is beautiful at Dona Paula. If it is on your bucket list then not bad to visit deltin/casino pride1/2.
Fountain has the famous Portuguese quarter area, take a walk tour through those colorful buildings and feel the vibe of different culture.
Places to live:
For solo travelers or group of friends:
Hostels are the best place to stay for you eg, Backpacker Panda Goa. There you will meet new friends from all over world, people travelling since long time, you will get to interact with backpackers and listen to storytellers with beer parties.
Drink:
We used to call Urat as “Aurat” (there’s a story behind this) and you will become die-hard fan of kings.
Food:
Powaa_ It is the king of bread.
Chicken Mackerel: This was one of the amazing dish I ever ate.
Sea Food: whatever you love.
Enough to know this “Goa thing”. And somehow when I got back, I was different.
Things I noted to myself while saying goodbye:
Salt water cures everything and goodbyes are hard but they give you chance for next hello.
Learn to accept things the way they are.
Speak to the world because they will never judge you and if they do you, don’t give damn shit about that.
People you meet in goa get a corner in your heart and sometimes it’s not bad at all to break boundaries.
You have got one life so live it up.
Be barefoot.
